The annual Susan Polgar Girls' Invitational is a prestigious nationwide event that showcases the top young female talent in the world of chess. It has been created and sponsored by Susan Polgar and the Susan Polgar Foundation to give more opportunities to top young female chess players in the United States. This six-day event combines a championship tournament with elite training session given by Susan Polgar and her team. The event is a culmination of a series of regional, state and nationwide qualifying events over a period of 12 months that involves over 3,000 young girls vying to represent their respective states.

The 1st Annual Event for Girls was held from August 8 to 13, 2004 alongside with the US Open Championship. The winner earned a full scholarship to the University of Texas worth up to $40,000 plus other incentives!

The 2nd Annual Event for Girls was held on August 7 to 12, 2005 alongside the 106th US Open in Phoenix, Arizona. A record 48 girls (four of them as young as 11 years old) represented their respective states in this championship.

The 3rd Annual Event for Girls (under 19) took place on August 6-11 at the Double Tree Hotel in Oak Brook, IL. The illustrious UTD scholarship (University of Texas) was awarded to Abby Marshal of VA., the defending champion.
