The annual Susan Polgar National Invitational for Girls is a prestigious nationwide event that showcases the top young female talent in the world of chess. This prestigious tournament is created and sponsored by Susan Polgar and the Susan Polgar Foundation to give more opportunities to top young female chess players in the United States. The event is a culmination of a series of regional, state and nationwide qualifying events over a period of 12 months that involves over 3,000 young girls vying to represent their respective states. In its first year, while most people expected no more than 15-20 participants, the event drew a phenomenal 34 players from across the country, one as far as Hawaii. Now in its third year, the event recently had 44 girls representing their individual states.


The 1st Annual Event for Girls was held from August 8 to 13, 2004 alongside with the US Open Championship. The winner earned a full scholarship to the University of Texas worth up to $40,000 plus other incentives! Overall winner WFM Rosa Eynullayeva from MA. She received a $40,000 full scholarship (full tuition) to the University of Texas at Dallas! Results: 1st: WFM Rosa Eynullayeva from MA 3-way tie for 2nd: Alisa Melekhina from PA Anjali Datta from KA Elisha Garg from CA Particpants: 34* Read USCF Release		The 2nd Annual Event for Girls was held on August 7 to 12, 2005 alongside the 106th US Open in Phoenix, Arizona. A record 48 girls (four of them as young as 11 years old) represented their respective states in this championship. Winners WFM Alisa Melekhina of PA, WGM Anya Corke of CA, and Abby Marshal of OH Results: 3-way tie for 1st:WFM Alisa Melekhina of PA WGM Anya Corke of CA Abby Marshal of OH 4-way tie for 4th: Louiza Livschitz from CA Amanda Mateer from AZ Emily Lau from HI Anjali Datta from TX Participants: 48* Read USCF Release		The 3rd Annual Event for Girls (under 19) took place on August 6-11 at the Double Tree Hotel in Oak Brook, IL. The illustrious UTD scholarship (University of Texas) was awarded to Abby Marshal of VA., the defending champion. Overall Winner and defending champion Abby Marshal of VA shown with Susan Polgar. Results: 1st: Abby Marshal from VA 2-way tie for 2nd: Elina Kats from NY Louiza Livschitz from CA 2-way tie for 4th: Ashley Carter from MI Courtney Jamison from TX Participants: 44* Read USCF Release
